Women in The Arts 2022: Tantangan dan Peluang Perempuan dalam Seni
Dalam rangka memperingati Hari Perempuan Internasional yang jatuh pada tanggal 8 Maret, Institut Kesenian Jakarta (IKJ) menyambut baik ajakan kerja sama the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Mexico yang kembali mengadakan acara di mana para perempuan Meksiko dan Indonesia yang berkecimpung di bidang seni dapat saling bertukar pengalaman, tantangan dan peluang yang mereka temui sebagai upaya menjalin persaudaraan dan pemberdayaan perempuan di daerah yang dikenal sebagai wilayah laki-laki.
Ini akan menjadi acara virtual live dan interaktif, di mana para pembicara akan dapat berinteraksi satu sama lain berikut juga para peserta saat menjawab pertanyaan yang terlontar. Nan T. Achnas, Ph.D sivitas akademika IKJ yang juga Wakil Direktur Sekolah Pascasarjana IKJ, tampil sebagai salah satu pembicara mempresentasikan pengalamannya selama ini selaku insan perfilman/sineas (penulis skenario, sutradara, produser) terdepan di Indonesia.

Nan T. Achnas, Ph.D
Terlibat dalam beberapa film, antara lain berjudul Kuldesak (1998), kemudian Pasir Berbisik (2001) yang mendapatkan delapan penghargaan dari berbagai festival film international, antara lain Rotterdam International Film Festival, Pusan International Film Festival, Seatle International Film festival, Deauville International Film Festival – Perancis, Asian Pasific International Film Festival, dll.
Selanjutnya pada tahun 2003, ia membuat film Bendera yang mendapatkan penghargaan di Tokyo International Film Festival. Filmnya berjudul The Photograph dirilis tahun 2007, skenarionya mendapatkan empat grant dari Fond Sud-Pemerintah Perancis, Goteborg International Film festival, Prince Claus Award-Belanda, dan Locarno International Film Festival.
Nan Triveni Achnas is an Indonesian female director, screenwriter and producer as well as a lecturer at the Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ) who is currently the Deputy Director of the IKJ Graduate School.
Starting from her film The Only Day (1988) which she worked on during her diploma studies and won the Grand Prix at the Asian Young Cinema Film Festival in Tokyo, film works by an alumnus of the Faculty of Film and Television (FFTV) IKJ and a master’s degree in Film Studies at the University of East Anglia (1996) who got the Grant Chevening Scholar, and as well as a doctoral study graduate at Nanyang Technological University Singapore (2020) with the thesis title “Experimenting with the essay form and wayang in contemporary Indonesian filmmaking: when shadows are gray” , has received many awards in this country and various international film festival.
Born in Singapore and then grew up in Kuala Lumpur. Her father, Nas Achnas, is of Minangkabau ethnicity from Padangpanjang, West Sumatra, Indonesia, who works as a film director in Singapore and Malaysia. Meanwhile, her mother, Ida Lochfiah, comes from the Mandailing ethnicity, a Malay tribe in the Batak land, North Sumatra, Indonesia.
Involved in several films, among others entitled Kuldesak (1998), then Pasir Berbisik/Sands Whispering (2001) which won eight awards from various international film festivals, including Rotterdam International Film Festival, Pusan International Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Deauville International Film Festival – France, Asian Pacific International Film Festival, etc.
Then in 2003, she made the film Flags which won an award at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Her film entitled The Photograph was released in 2007, the screenplay received four grants from the Fond Sud-French Government, Goteborg International Film festival, Prince Claus Award-Netherlands, and Locarno International Film Festival.
When asked about facing discrimination as a female filmmaker in an interview on a web site, Nan T. Achnas shared her opinion on the difficulty of increasing women’s participation in both the political and social spheres in life and in art to advance gender politics in Indonesia.
This year (2022), Nan T. Achnas again discussed the same thing with female leaders from other continents at the initiative of the Cultural Attache of the Mexican Embassy in Jakarta.
